AI coding agents are changing how software gets built. As they take on more work, organisations need clear answers: what can an agent access, which actions are permitted, and how can its activity be reviewed?
BatonX is being built to help organisations answer those questions without losing the developer experience that makes these tools useful.
Why BatonX exists
Giving an agent access to a development environment is a decision about code, credentials, network access and responsibility.
Instructions help guide behaviour, but they cannot replace technical boundaries. BatonX brings security and governance into the environment where agents operate, so organisations can define how AI-assisted development should work—and enforce those decisions.
What we are building
BatonX is an enterprise security and governance control plane for AI coding agents.
It is designed to bring authorised repository access, isolated workspaces, centrally managed policies and session visibility into a consistent workflow.
Claude Code and Codex CLI are supported. The architecture is designed to support additional coding agents over time.
What guides us
Enforce boundaries technically.
Policies should be supported by runtime controls, not depend solely on an agent following instructions.
Keep access intentional.
An agent should receive only the access required for the authorised work.
Keep developers in control.
AI can assist with implementation. Developers remain responsible for reviewing changes and deciding what is delivered.
Make activity understandable.
Useful oversight means being able to understand actions, policy decisions and resource usage.
Respect the developer workflow.
Governance should fit naturally around the tools developers use, with as little unnecessary friction as possible.
Where we are today
BatonX is under active development. We are building and validating the foundations of governed agent sessions, with a focus on practical controls and a usable developer experience.
The scenarios shown on this website describe the intended product direction. Availability depends on the supported agent and release.
